When Tragedy Strikes
Those of you who pray, please pray hard for my BIL and his family. They just suffered a loss that goes beyond comprehension. My BIL, Al, was the all-knowing big brother to his sister, Helen. Helen did not show up for work on Monday. The family became concerned. Helen's husband's birthday was the day before so they thought maybe she took an extra day off of work in celebration. When no one could contact her or her husband, Al and Helen's mother asked him to check it out. Al lives very close to his sister and her husband and has a key to their house, so he went to investigate. What he found is something no human eyes should ever have to see. As he entered the house, there was dog mess on the floor. And blood. Not good! He immediately called police and continued in pursuit of his sister. I believe he knew deep in his heart that what he was going to find wouldn't be what he wanted. Something bad had happened, but what? He walked in the master bedroom to find a horrific scene. His sister, in bed, bloodied, apparently dead. Her husband, on the floor with a pool of blood around his head. He immediately backed out of the room careful not to touch anything as to not tamper with any possible evidence. The police showed as he was exiting the house and ordered him to the ground. He begged them to check the status of his sister. They were both dead. A murder-suicide. Apparently Helen's husband killed her sometime the night of his birthday and then turned the gun on himself sometime later. There are so many unanswered questions and the people who can answer them are no longer alive. They left behind three children. Fortunately, all of them adults who can take care of themselves. Please pray for this family who is reeling from this cruel, selfish act. Please pray for my BIL who had to see this, who will probably never be able to erase those images from his mind. Pray for God's comfort and peace to surround this family.

I cannot express how shocked and sad I am to hear this news. It's so horrible, I can't even imagine it. I am praying for your sister, Brother-in-law and all that are involved. How awful.
Thanks for your prayers! The visitation was tonight and her funeral is tomorrow. They can't find the will anywhere. They've located a couple lock boxes, but so far all they've found are guns-lots of them. Right now they don't know really what to do with her body because they don't know her wishes. If they can't find the will, they will just do what makes her children happy. The parents had a private viewing tonight. No open casket because she was shot in the head. I can't imagine the sorrow of these poor elderly parents. My BIL is starting to crack. He's been very stoic until now. I hope and pray he sees a great counselor in the days ahead. As tragic and sudden as Hugh's death was (and how horrible) the violence of this act is just unimaginable!
