Fall '09

We've been busy around here, for sure! Taylor is doing great in school and is currently preparing for her recital next weekend. I even got to watch some of her "partnering" class in ballet this week. It's amazing to see her lifted so high in the air. She's into all the normal teen things: going to movies, hanging out and watching movies with girlfriends, going to football games, etc. Next month is her first homecoming dance and she'll be attending with her best guy, Dylan.

Everyone is excited about Halloween and is hoping it does not get rained out. The boys are finally getting over what seemed like a never-ending illness. They still have runny noses and a cough, but I'm sure they'll probably keep that their whole first year of preschool. The boys just experienced their first preschool fall parties. They got to dress up and trick or treat around their center and then retreat to their classrooms for a party. Tomorrow we'll be attending our fall festival at church, and if the rain holds off, we'll do a little trick or treating with the boys.




We are embarking on a new listening program that requires 30 minutes of listening twice a day for each boy. They love it and they look so cute in their big headphones. We are also still doing brushing therapy and compressions with them. They are really progressing in speech and occupational therapy. I was greeted yesterday by their occupational therapist with a big, "Oh my gosh, Brett did SO good today." I always love those greetings. Blake is becoming quite a loud talker (shouter) and Brett is the little teacher. He loves pointing to things and spelling them out or counting them. They both have a love for singing and finger songs. Blake is learning how to take bites out of cookies, bread, twizzlers, etc. It's amazing, but at 3 years old, they've never mastered taking bites out of things. They've always just tried to stick the whole thing in their mouths. Can you say choking hazard? We should also be having our first IEP meeting with the school system very soon. The systems speech therapists and psychologist have done their evaluations and we're just waiting to hear about a meeting. I've done tons of paperwork this year and will be embarking on more, to be sure. An evaluation here, and a checklist there...it never ends. There is a possibility that the school system will recommend the boys do 1/2 days five days a week. I actually think it would be good for their routine to do so. They'll have more consistency that way instead of getting in the groove for three days and then having 4 days off.

The year is swiftly moving by. It is my goal to update this blog more than once every three months or so, but no promises. Life is just too busy right now!
